Please note that absences from the fall semester can be made up until the winter break the following spring. Absences from the spring semester must be made up during the same semester.
Independent Practice: Open training
During open training, you can practice acrobatics and circus skills on your own. Rehearsals are held in Circus Helsinki’s Generaattorisali (Sörnäisten rantatie 22, Building 1, Door C, 2nd floor). A Circus Helsinki instructor is always on site to answer your questions.
You do not need to be a Circus Helsinki student to participate in open training sessions. Registration takes place on-site using your own phone or a tablet provided by the circus school.

Independent Training: Daytime Training Sessions
You can participate in Circus Helsinki’s daytime training sessions if you are a circus professional or an adult amateur able to train independently.
Daytime training sessions are held in Circus Helsinki’s Generaattorisali (Sörnäisten rantatie 22, Building 1, Door C, 2nd floor). Training takes place at the trainee’s own risk. There is no Circus Helsinki supervisor present in the facility during training sessions.
Please always use adequate safety equipment when training. Train according to your own skill level. Please note that only double figure eight knots are used for rigging at Circus Helsinki.
Daytime training sessions are generally held on weekdays from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM during the semester.
Please note that other bookings for the hall may occasionally affect the schedule.

Safer space guidelines
Together, we can create a safer space where everyone can be themselves without fear of discrimination or harassment.
- We are open-minded: We approach new things and people with an open mind. We embrace new situations as opportunities to learn and grow. We do not discriminate or exclude anyone.
- We respect others: We take into account the diversity of people. We respect everyone’s right to self-identification and do not make assumptions about someone’s gender, background, health, sexuality or family relations, for example. We don’t comment on other people’s bodies.
- We give space to others: Safe circus training often involves physical contact. We let others know about our boundaries. We respect each other’s physical space and try to let others know before making physical contact – safety first, however.
- We are considerate: We listen to others and give everyone a voice. We pay attention to our choice of words. We only photograph others after getting their permission, and never in the changing rooms.
- We are encouraging: We notice the good in others and voice it. We give feedback in a constructive and friendly way.
- We react: If we see inappropriate behaviour, we won’t stand by and watch. We’ll report it to a teacher, principal, guardian or other safe adult.
We understand that we all make mistakes from time to time. If we hurt someone, we apologise and try to learn from our mistakes.
You can report inappropriate behaviour or give other feedback by clicking here and filling in the form. The forms will be read by the principal of Circus Helsinki, Tiina Aalkivi, who you can also contact by email (rehtori@circushelsinki.fi).
